The soundtrack for the upcoming anime film “The Reason I Jump” drops today, and it’s pretty much everything you could hope for from it. The album includes the ending theme song “Junketsu no Tenshi,” and if you listen to the lyrics, it’s pretty clear that it’s about a high school boy who becomes a super hero.

Here’s a quick treat for music fans: a premiere that’s both familiar and not so. The new film “The Reason I Jump” tells a story about childhood cancer, but it also uses music, a love for cartoons and a short video clip from the movie to tell the story. The soundtrack, which includes songs from the film, was released on April 20 by Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.

The soundtrack album for the drama movie “The Reason I Jump” has been released. The album is a collaboration between the Japanese band “Diver City Rockers” and Korean songwriter Kim Do Hyun (“Boys Over Flowers”, “Entertainer” soundtrack songs, “Descendants of the Sun”). The album contains 10 songs—and 2 tracks are the ones that were used in the movie. “I Wish I Could Go” and “I’m Blind” will be released as singles.

Mercury KX has released the soundtrack to the feature film Reason for My Leap, written by award-winning composer Nainita Desai and awarded at Sundance 2023.
A soundtrack that has already been nominated for the BIFA and the Cinema Eye Honors Award for Best Film Score.

Soundtrack News: ‘The Reason I Jump’ hybrid OST Is Out Now!

The Reason for My Leap, based on the bestseller by Naoki Higashida, is an immersive cinematic exploration of neurodiversity through the experiences of non-speaking autistic people around the world, directed by Jerry Rothwell. The film combines Higashida’s revelations about autism, written when he was just 13, with intimate portraits of five remarkable young people. It opens a window for the viewer to an intense and overwhelming, but often joyful, sensory world.

Like the book on which the film is based, Desai’s score opens the door to a constellation of different ways of perceiving reality. The goal was to evoke the intense sensory worlds described in the book with a Dolby Atmos 360 soundtrack. The soundtrack distinguishes the musical worlds of the different characters with different instruments. In keeping with the themes of the film, Nainita focused on autism and neurodiversity. LPO cellist Elizabeth Viklander is autistic and a cultural ambassador for the National Autistic Society, and her contribution brought much sensitivity and awareness.

This piece is my most personal musical reflection on the film and my interpretation of the characters’ experiences with neurodiversity. The text is inspired by the text of the original book, where I gave voice to the non-verbal characters by breaking their silence. I wanted the lyricism of the strings, the delicacy of the piano and the purity of the voice to shed a gentle light on all the facets of autism covered in the film, connecting Naoki’s last words with understanding and empathy, says Nainita Desai on the track The Reason I Jump.

The Reason I Jump is Desai’s seventh soundtrack, but also his most personal; it’s a mixture of OST and personal album: The album embodies my roots in sound design, the human voice, electronic and acoustic instrument explorations that hint at the journey I am on with my personal music.
