When it comes to upcoming movies, we’ve all got that one bad habit. While we try to avoid it, we know that we’re not perfect and sometimes we can’t help but glance over the latest release. There’s a good chance that if you’re on this site you’ve looked at some of these films, and as you’re reading this there’s a good chance you’ve seen a few of these films.
I know. You’re probably wondering, “Why are you reviewing the Blu-ray of a film that’s already out on DVD?” Well, for one, I wanted to see it! And then, it’s because I’m unashamedly in love with the film. And also because I feel that audiences are in desperate need of a reminder that movies can be more than big explosions and gratuitous nudity.
The stars of Anything For Jackson (2020) have already begun arriving at Dollywood. Oprah Winfrey will play the role of Molly Shannon, who is a big supporter of the park. Reese Witherspoon, Lucille Ball and Dolly Parton will also be a part of the film.

Summary I had no particular expectations, but I was surprised by the power of the film, with some incredibly disturbing shocks and a scare factor that you rarely see in movies these days. Things get even crazier towards the finale, but along the way there are signs that this film is no joke. Plot: Two grieving Satanist grandfathers kidnap a pregnant woman with the intention of performing a ritual that will bring back his grandson in the form of the woman’s child. Review: Henry (Julian Richings) and Audrey (Sheila McCarthy) are a pair of grumpy old men who quietly kidnap a young pregnant woman named Becker (Costantina Mantelos). The room they have prepared for them is soundproofed, and it is immediately clear that this seemingly innocent couple has been planning this for a long time. Henry is an obstetrician, and he deliberately chose Becker: She has no immediate family and has expressed concern about her pregnancy, but is fully prepared to carry the child, although she has no support. Henry and Audrey see the young woman and her unborn child as a way to win back their grandson Jackson, who was killed in a car accident several years ago and left their own daughter disabled, leading to her suicide. Henry and Audrey are devoted to the worship of Satan and have found an extremely rare folio that may be the oldest book in the world. In the text they find forbidden spells and words that can be spoken to open a gate to hell, but they confuse these words with a way to bring the dead back to life. At the beginning of the ritual, they summon a demon and a legion of evil spirits, but they err on the side of measurement, leading to a series of potentially catastrophic events that result in their home being overrun by evil spirits. A detective arrives (Henry’s story about seeing/knowing Becker gets very confusing), and his satanic colleague (played at his best by Josh Kraddas) understands what Henry and Audrey are up to and sees an opportunity, but the grieving elderly couple have become embroiled in things beyond themselves. For such a small film, Anything for Jackson is like a small bubbling cauldron ready to explode. I had no particular expectations, but I was surprised by the power of the film, with some incredibly disturbing shocks and a scare factor that you rarely see in movies these days. Dyke has made a career out of making cheesy Christmas movies for Hallmark and Lifetime, and this is his first attempt at horror, and it’s a blast. He never suggested that he was capable of doing something so strong and powerful. With his first work, he has already established himself as a voice of horror that should be paid attention to. All for Jackson has just been released on Blu-ray and DVD by RLJE Films and can also be streamed on Shudder. 
With the release of the new Jacksone, the franchise has been revived and is due for a sequel. There will be a new Jacksone and a new Jackson. New franchise, new cast, and a new Blu-ray release.
