After his 2013 sleeper hit “Spring Breakers”, director Harmony Korine returns with something slightly more mainstream – a dark comedy titled “Malignant”. The plot centers around a Hollywood film set in which four actors become involved in a real-life murder mystery. Korine returns to the dark underworld of cinema that made his breakout hit so appealing, but in his latest flick he is joined by a newcomer in the form of Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Malignant is an American horror film that has seen its fair share of controversy since it’s main character, Jordan Belfort (played by Robert De Niro), has made headlines for his part in the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) civil case against the now-defunct penny-stock firm Stratton Oakmont, which Belfort founded in 1987.
After receiving critical acclaim for films such as Saw, The Conjuring series, and Insidious, filmmaker James Wan returns with Malignant, another supernatural horror film. The trailer for the film was published a while ago and received generally positive feedback. Following hints from the video, it is assumed that a lady imagines herself being pursued by an unreal creature.
Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Akela Cooper worked together to write the tale. By early September, enthusiastic fans will be able to see it on large screens as well as on HBO Max, a streaming platform.
Cast of the Malignant Film
Madison, portrayed by Annabelle Wallis, is the heroine of the tale. George Young, Maddie Hasson, Jacqueline McKenzie, Michole Briana White, Jake Abel, and Ingrid Bisu are among the cast members.
What is the plot of the story?

From the perspective of Madison (Annabelle Wallis), who is hospitalized after a tragic miscarriage caused by an intruder who murdered her husband, the tale explores childhood trauma, lucid dreaming, and malevolent spirits. She falls under the radar of the police and is suspected of being the murderer. Madison is very disturbed by this, and after being released, she begins to have eerie dreams of horrific killings.
She does think, however, that she has been possessed by a ghost with a link to her strange upbringing. She learns that her “visions” are not only in her mind, but are occurring in the actual world.
This brings up Gabriel, the evil ghost Madison used to speak with as a kid, and Madison believes the non-existent figure is to blame for everything. So, before anything worse occurs, she has to figure out the truth and put an end to the terrifying visions.
Is It Worth Watching?

Wan’s fans have been clamoring for more after the success of his past directorial efforts. Wan, on the other hand, rejected these notions, declaring Malignant to be his “most violent and gruesome picture,” leaving fans to wonder what the filmmaker can deliver this time around. He claims that the film will not be a typical “jump scare” picture, but rather a nice blend of thriller and psychological fiction.
Fans of his past work will be eager to learn more about his new project, which he claims is nothing like a conventional play and will keep the audience enthralled until the very end.
Malignant needs to provide something new to horror/thriller fans that no other picture has. This might be a fantastic addition to this year’s horror films.
