A writer for the Hollywood blockbuster Legally Blonde has shut down a “lesbian romance” rumour, insisting she and her co-star Reese Witherspoon are just friends.

The legally blonde 20 years later is a film that was released in 2001. It has been confirmed by the writer of the movie, who shut down a rumour that there was a lesbian romance between Elle Woods and her professor.

Karren McCullah Lutz, the author of Legally Blonde, criticizes a New York Times story that says the original film was about lesbian romance but was eventually removed due to bigotry.

The New York Times published false information about the early 2000s chick-flick Legally Blonde, saying that it was once a lesbian love tale that was shut down by prejudiced Hollywoood executives — but the script writer claims that is just not true.

Karen McCullah’s comedy flick Legally Blonde was released in 2001. It was based on Amanda Brown’s book of the same name from 2001. Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge are among the cast members. The New York Times, on the other hand, went out to Jessica Cauffiel, a lesser-known actress who was involved in the film, and claimed that the film was initially about lesbian romance.

“The original ending had Elle and Vivian on a beach in Hawaii, sipping margaritas and holding hands,” she said. “The implication was either they were closest friends or they were romantically involved,” Cauffiel added.

According to the New York Times, this scene was removed from the final edit due to sexism and homophobia, and it was altered to simply indicate that the two major characters became friends. The scriptwriter for Legally Blonde replied to the story, claiming that the actress mentioned in the article was incorrect.

“This isn’t the case. The film was written by myself. I’m the person in the photo you just uploaded. McCullah replied, “The actress mentioned in the story [Jessica Cauffiel] is wrong.”

McCullah also debunked rumors that a homophobic audience was upset by the “original conclusion” by responding to those who were “enraged.”

Do not get upset by this rumor since it is false.

There’s a possibility that some people are mistaking the film with the 2007 musical Legally Blonde, which included a lot more LGBTQ-friendly moments.

Karen McCullah is also renowned for penning classic rom-coms including 10 Things I Hate About You, She’s The Man (starring Amanda Byrnes), House Bunny, and The Ugly Truth, which helped transform Australia’s late, great, and beloved actor Heath Ledger into a Hollywood heartthrob.

The legally blonde anniversary is a day to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film Legally Blonde. Reese Witherspoon, who starred in the film, shut down rumours that it was a lesbian romance.
