Hunter × Hunter is the longest-running anime in Japan and has been running for nearly 20 years. It’s also one of the most popular anime series ever, with a huge fanbase all over the world. However, fans have been waiting for a long time to see what happens next after season 6. Will there be a season 7?

The hxh season 7 countdown is a blog that has been published by the official Hunter × Hunter Facebook page. It gives an update on whether or not there will be a season 7 of the popular anime series.

Yoshihiro Togashi created the Hunter manga series, which he wrote and drew. Gon Freecss, a twelve-year-old kid, is obsessed with finding his father at any means, so he resolves to become a “hunter” like him and track out his location. Sheisha publishing company started publishing the manga in its weekly magazine Weekly Shnen Jump in March 1998. The tale was turned into an anime series by Nippon Animation, which aired on Fuji TV for 62 episodes between October 1999 and March 2001. Nippon Animation also created three original animations (totaling 30 episodes) that were distributed in Japan between 2002 and 2004. A second version, created by Madhouse, aired on Nippon Television for 148 episodes from October 2, 2011 to September 23, 2014. You’ll find out if Hunter Hunter is definitely over or not in this post! Enjoy!

The Hunter Hunter manga is still ongoing, with Yoshihiro Togashi continuing to publish new chapters to this day. The anime has been on hiatus since 2014, despite not adapting the whole manga, and it seems doubtful that it will be revived anytime soon.

This page will include all you need to know about Hunter Hunter’s future, both in manga and anime form. You’ll find out whether they’re finished and if (and when) they’ll be resumed. Keep reading to the end since we’ve prepared an interesting article for you.

Is Hunter Hunter finished?

Hunter Hunter tells the story of Gon Freecss, a twelve-year-old boy who aspires to be a hunter. On the mere display of their membership card, the hunters are privileged citizens who are allowed to do virtually whatever they choose. His father, Ging Freecss, whom he does not know personally, is regarded as one of history’s finest hunters.

Gon also wants to become a hunter in order to locate him. The annual hunter test, on the other hand, is very tough and dangerous. Only one applicant in 10,000 is believed to arrive to the location of the exams, and only one candidate every three years is said to become a hunter on his first try.

Monsters, traps, and even other competitors have been known to harm or even kill participants throughout the tests. Throughout the test, Gon will encounter a variety of people, both allies and enemies. Gon’s power isn’t only physical: his charm, purity, compassion, tremendous generosity, and, most all, his remarkable ability to elicit pity often assist him in escaping even the most dangerous circumstances.

Gon’s tale was first published in Togashi’s manga, which was turned into an anime series on two occasions. Let us now check whether Gon’s tale is complete or not.

Manga

Hunter Hunter first appeared in the Weekly Shnen Jump on March 16, 1998. Following the release of Chapter 260 in February 2006, the pace of chapter publishing has become very variable.

The Weekly Shnen Jump did not publish Chapter 261 until October 6, 2007, followed by a weekly chapter until December 8, 2007. The publishing was resumed at a weekly pace on March 3, 2008, to coincide with the release of volume 25 in Japan on March 4, 2008.

The publishing of new chapters of the Weekly Shnen Jump was once again halted on May 9, 2008, at chapter 280. Jump published chapter 281 on October 5, 2008. After then, the story was revived for 10 chapters before going on hiatus until December 4, 2008.

The Weekly Shnen Jump resumed chapter publishing on January 4, 2010, with chapter 291, until a new hiatus began on June 1, 2010. Chapter 311 was eventually released on August 8, 2011, after a more than a year delay. After chapter 340 in March 2012, the manga went on pause again.

The series began publishing in June 2014, but was taken off the market again in August 2014 owing to the author’s back discomfort. Between 2016 and 2018, the series will be released on an irregular basis once again. Since November 2018, the manga has been on pause once again.

Since the first volume was published on June 4, 1998, the publisher Sheisha has been releasing the chapters in tankbon format, with 36 volumes issued as of October 4, 2018.

The manga is still classified as continuing by the publisher, and the narrative is far from completed, but with the series having been on pause for three years, it’s unclear when or if it will be resumed. Last year, we learned that Togashi had been dealing with health issues for some time and that this was the cause of the manga’s excessively lengthy hiatus.

Of course, fans want Togashi to improve before moving on to new material, but given how uncertain the future is at the moment, we can only affirm that the manga is not finished and that there are more tales to be told. Whether or whether that will happen is a another matter entirely.

Anime

Nippon Animation created the first animated television series adaption, which was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi. Between October 16, 1999 and March 31, 2001, 62 episodes of the series were aired on Fuji Television on Saturday evenings, in the same time period as Togashi’s previous series, Yu Yu Hakusho.

While the animated series closely follows the manga, the violence in certain sequences was toned down to appeal to a younger audience.

When the animated series caught up to the manga in 2001, Nippon Animation decided to call it a day rather than continue with filler episodes. Because of the harsh response from fans to the series’ termination, three original video animation (OVA) episodes were created, beginning with the Yorknew City arc and ending with the Greed Island arc, which spans volumes 12 to 18 of the manga.

In July 2011, a new animated television series adaption was announced, re-adapting the narrative from the beginning in order to stay true to the original manga. Hiroshi Kjina directed the series, which was produced by Madhouse and written by Atsushi Maekawa. Takahiro Yoshimatsu designed the characters.

Beginning on October 2, 2011, the series aired on Nippon Television on Saturday mornings. After 148 episodes, the show came to an end on September 23, 2014. We can affirm that the anime is not finished in terms of storyline, based on how the series concluded with the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc, but it has been on a lengthier hiatus than the manga, which speaks for itself.

Will the Hunter Hunter manga have any more chapters?

There will most likely be more Hunter Hunter manga chapters, but we have no idea when they will be released. Because of Togashi’s health problems, the manga has been on many hiatuses during its run, the most recent of which began in 2018 and is the series’ longest sabbatical to date.

Now, the narrative is far from finished, and we still haven’t gotten a resolution as of 2018, thus there will most likely be more manga chapters, but when and if that happens, we don’t know. We only hope Togashi stays well enough to create more content, and if he does, we’re certain it’ll be released as soon as possible.

Is there going to be a seventh season of Hunter Hunter?

There are no immediate plans for a new season of the program as far as we know, but based on Megumi Han’s 2014 “diary” entry, the cast and crew haven’t given up on the series. That’s what she stated at the time:

Now that I’ve discussed the turning point for this column, I’d want to discuss something else. We recorded episode 148 of Hunter x Hunter the other day in Sanbunzaka Studio, the birthplace of all beginnings, which will serve as the anime’s current turning point. I’m not going to say “last episode.” I’m going to be obstinate and just name it “episode 148.” I say this because, in a sense, this will be the last episode in terms of episode numbers, but it also seems like the start of a new beginning to me. Episode 147, in my opinion, is the last episode, while episode 148 serves as a kind of epilogue. The original manga is still going strong, and the adventures haven’t come to a close yet. There’s still a whole new universe to discover. Actually, it seems like the narrative up to this point has been nothing more than a prologue, which makes me even more excited for what’s to come.

Even though I say that, I feel extremely sad when I think, “I’ve been going to the same location every week at the same time for three years, but next week, this won’t happen…”

… I know I shouldn’t say too much, but I’ll put my thoughts down here. “Thank you” to everyone and everything up to this point.

2014, Megumi Han

In the second adaption of the program, Megumi Han played Gon, and she was the one who announced that the studio had chosen to stop the anime at episode 148. Of course, she emphasized that the program’s protagonists are in for more adventures, and since the manga has already published extra chapters, with hopefully more to come (see above), there is enough material to keep the show going.

So, is it going to happen? It’s very improbable at this time, especially since the manga is also on hiatus, so don’t hold your breath. And, although we hope that at least the manga will continue the narrative of Gon’s travels, we’re not sure whether the anime will ever be properly continued.

When can we anticipate Hunter Hunter season 7?

Given how uncertain the anime’s future is, there is no way of knowing when a possible seventh season of the program would be produced. Still, we anticipate that it will take time, and that even if the studio chooses to create additional episodes, it will be at least a few years before we see new episodes.

Hunter × Hunter is a long-running anime series that has been going on for over 20 years. It’s popularity has led to it being adapted into a manga, novels, and video games. It’s also one of the most popular anime in Japan. The show was originally created by Yoshihiro Togashi and ran from 1998 to 1999 with two seasons. After the second season ended, Togashi went on hiatus due to health problems. He returned in 2011 with what would be his final story arc which would end in 2014. So far there have been 6 seasons of Hunter × Hunter with no signs of stopping anytime soon. Reference: how many seasons does hxh have.
