With the chaos of the outbreak behind them, the group checks into the Salvation, a resort that caters to all kinds of spooky-crawly things. (Like the fact that they are in a zombie-infested resort? That the inn is called The Salvation? That they need to stay put to avoid the zombies? Or that the zombies are there to eat everyone?) But the zombies don’t attack for a while, so the gang goes to a ball. And it’s totally awesome and scary and awesome and scary.
In the very last episode of Season 1 on AMC’s The Bad Batch , there’s a conversation between two male characters that’s a perfect metaphor for the diversity problem in Hollywood. In the episode, two of the characters, Adam and Danny, have fallen out. Adam is trying to convince Danny to move to Mexico to escape the U.S. government because he’s after Adam for something; Danny initially wants to stay in the U.S. and cough up Adam, but Adam convinces him.

*SPOILERS* On the island of Reunion, the Batch Group is desperate to sell parts and supplies after Rex’s departure. Wrecker trains Omega to disarm the bombs and she fails, but it’s actually a harmless smoke bomb. Butch starts the ship’s engine, which attracts the attention of Crosshair and his soldiers. The technicians hack Crosshairs’ communication signal, and Batch, thanks to his intelligence, escapes them first. They try to escape via the bike, but Crosshairs sets it on fire and Batch has to flee. However, the reticle is not their only problem: Bounty hunter Cad Bane shoots Hunter and takes Omega with him. When Hunter wakes up, the boys are there, and they agree to look for Omega. 
In Reunion, after Rex’s return in Battle Scars, we have another guest appearance. I didn’t expect to see Cad Bane again, and so soon, but I hoped it would happen. I’d love to see a scenario where he takes on Boba Fett in the Clone Wars. I think Filoni is probably using Bad Party to explore some of these unused narrative avenues. Entire storylines were dropped when Disney cancelled the series. Tonally and stylistically, Bad Batch feels like a continuation of the Clone Wars, which the other Star Wars animated series did not, so it makes perfect sense to continue working on characters and stories that were not completed in that series. The brief shootout between Hunter and Cad Bane is structured in the same way as the one for Bane and Fett. This is an interesting review for those who have seen the animation of the unfinished episodes of The Clone Wars. My guess is that Bane will meet Boba Fett at some point, maybe at an evil party or even in the Boba Fett book. Either way, Clone Wars fans are going to get tired of it in the near future. It’s entirely possible that Bane will bring Omega back to the Caminoans, and that this will be the last we see of him for a while, and that’s fine by me. But if Butch catches up to him and they meet again, that would be cool too. He’s a more than capable fighter, as we’ve seen here and in the Clone Wars, but fighting an entire group will be harder. I thought Bane’s cameo was perfect; his voice is so distinctive that you know who’s talking before you even see his face. I hope Filoni and the team have big plans for Cad Bain in the future. 
The meeting also confirmed that Kaminoans are the holders of the Omega Prize. This is no surprise to anyone, but now we know for sure. I was happy to see the Imperial/Camino subplot return to the Reunion. I love Omega and the dynamics between the team members, but Crosshairs and the tensions between the Caminos and the Empire were the most exciting aspect of the first episodes of the series. Crosshairs is a great antagonist in this episode; the utter contempt he shows for his brothers and the little girl’s life is terrifying. At the end of the episode, before Hunter Cad confronts Bane, Crosshair is badly injured and appears to have been burned in the face. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if it affects his chip inhibitor. It looks like the trauma or maybe even the heat he was exposed to made the chip malfunction. I also liked that Crosshairs expected Tech to hack his signal and used that to his advantage. Crosshairs knows those guys very well and seems smart himself, so it makes sense that he would be ahead in that regard. The lack of a visor seriously undermines the position of the party as a group, and it is a stain on its critical thinking. In the movie Reunion we even see how Teh is very intelligent, but limited in his thinking. He answers Omega’s questions in a very literal way, explaining how the war went that he was in, rather than telling her how he feels. There is also a connection with Rampage when he gives it a literal definition of slavery, in contrast to Eco’s moralistic view of the subject. Crosshair was not only a good shooter, but also a team strategist. Obviously, you still need his special skills. 
I probably sound like a broken record, but I’m still impressed with the animation in this series. The dimly lit scenes in the ship on Bracke create an atmosphere of foreboding before we or the characters are even aware of Crosshair’s presence. The shootout at the end is short, but exciting, and the hazy sky makes Cad Bane even more intimidating. The voice acting in Reunion is as strong as ever, with Dee Bradley Baker carrying the episode as ever. It never ceases to amaze me how many different clone voices he can interpret and how he always keeps them apart in his head. Michelle Ang gives Omega a believable innocence. His interaction with Hunter and Wrecker is what really makes the series successful. She needs more interaction with Echo and Tek, which will probably happen soon after she’s rescued from Camino or Bane. The film Reunion has a powerful score by Kevin Keener. I especially liked it when the boys were in the ship playing a dark and sad version of the main theme of the series. It reminds me of when he was experimenting with variations on themes from the original trilogy in The Clone Wars. Even if you don’t notice it, it can trigger memories and feelings that cause anticipation or anxiety. Keener doesn’t get enough recognition for his work in these shows. Overall, I enjoyed the movie Reunion. This is probably my favorite episode since the first episode. This episode brings the main issue back to the forefront after the wonderful Battle Scars. The return of Crosshair and the Camino storyline also brings an excitement that I’ve missed in recent weeks. I enjoyed seeing Cad Bane again and his performance was very well done. I can’t wait to see Butch get Omega back, see what happens to Crosshair, and find out what Filoni has planned for Bane in the long run.

Overall, I enjoyed the meeting. Crosshair’s return and Camino’s intrigue provide an excitement I’ve missed in recent weeks. I enjoyed seeing Cad Bane again and his performance was very well done.
